Update!

I have been losing sleep over my friend Lyndsey.  She's my high school best friend and had a baby boy last April.  She and her husband live in Utah.  She's in the hospital right now with some unexplained internal bleeding.  The doctor's can't seem to figure out what us causing it.  She's had a ton of blood pumped back into her but keeps bleeding.  Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

On a lighter note, Ava has made some fun changes this week!  When I come home from work these last few days she has gotten totally excited!  On Sunday she was sitting in her body pillow chair chewing on a toy.  When I walked in the door and she saw me threw her toy and starting flapping her arms all over the place!!  It was SO cute!  It made me feel so good!!!  On Monday she did the same thing, except Rafael was holding her and she started squealing and leaning toward me.

This morning I was holding her and checking my email.  Her favorite show (Super Why) came on TV and she heard the music.  She started getting all antsy and looking over toward the TV.  I took her over and sat her down and her eyes were glued!!  It was so cute!

This picture of her looking at the TV turned out weird.  The inside of her ear looks all red, but it's not.  I don't know if it was the flash or what.  There are also a few pictures of Ava with the kitty.  She can't get enough of the cat's!  She loves them!!

Grandpa's visit and random pictures from the day

Grandpa came to visit today!  It was fun to see him!  Ava got to play with him for awhile and it was nice!

Here are a few other random pics from today.  Ava is obsessed with the Kitties.  It is so cute.  It doesn't matter what your doing to entertain her, the second one of the kitties walks in the room her eyes are glued.  They usually keep their distance from her, but my cat jumped on my lap tonight while I was holding Ava.... what a treat!

Yummy rice!

We started Ava on rice cereal!  We tried last night and it was way too runny to feed her from a spoon so we put it in a sippy cup with not much success.  Tonight I added more rice cereal to the milk so it was much thicker.  It was SO much easier to feed with the spoon and Ava ate almost all of it!  She liked it a lot!  Hmm... maybe she will sleep a little longer tonight??  We'll see!

Aunt Na and a new trick!

Aunt Na came to visit today!  It was so fun to see her, and Ava had so much fun playing with her! Aunt Na's advice has always been some that I take to heart.  She talked me into starting Ava on some rice cereal, so we tried it tonight.  Ava started doing this lip smacking thing afterward and didn't stop all night!  I don't know if it was the starch from the cereal still in her mouth, or she learned a new trick... either way it was so funny, and Daddy and I were getting a kick out of it!!

Ava has really started to discover her voice and just how loud it can get!  Yesterday we went to the bank and I had to take her outside because she was screaming!!!  Not mad screaming, just very loud happy squealing.  She is doing it a little in this video, but this is nothing in comparison to yesterday!

Ava got a high chair today!!  She has had so much fun being up high!!  We haven't fed her in it yet, but will very soon!  Tonight I gathered all her binky's to boil and sterilize them.  I sat her in the chair and put ALL her binky's in front of her.  She had such a blast!  It was hilarious!  They entertained her so much longer than any of her toys!  It was like binky overload!!!!  She didn't know what to do with all of them!  At one point she had one in each hand and one in her mouth and a look of confusion on her face... haha.

Ava's first swim!!

Today we went to Uncle Cade's house to watch the football game.  Grandma brought over lunch for us, and afterward we went to Grandma's to go swimming!  Ava wasn't sure about the water at first. She had a really intense look of concentration on her face.  After a few minutes she started to splash with her hands, but the water would splash in her face and startle her.  It was so funny!!  I don't think she realized that she was causing it to splash in her face.  We took a cute video of her, and once I can figure out how to load it, I will post it.  We had a lot of fun, and I think I'm going to take Ava swimming more often now that we have done it once.

Ava update!

We're having so much fun with Ava!!  We always have, but the last few weeks she has changed so much and her personality is coming out like crazy!  She's such a little ham and so much fun to play with!  She's becoming so interactive and when we leave the room she yells!!

Tonight I came home from the grocery store and Ava was asleep.  I cut her nails and toe nails because it is SOOO much easier to do when she is sleeping.  When I was cutting her toe nails I decided that since she was going swimming tomorrow and her toes will be showing I should paint them.  Daddy wasn't too pleased when he got home.  She is so cuuute!!  It made me even more excited for when she gets to the age when we can go get our hair and nails done together!!  Haha...

Of course with Mom and Dad very close.... :)  She is getting so strong!  She can hold herself up in her crib for a little bit.  She gets really excited and lets go with her hands.  Luckily there are soft blankets and a crib behind her!

Visiting Aunt Betty

Today we went to Seattle to have lunch with Aunt Betty!  It has been awhile since Ava had seen her so it was a lot of fun!  Aunt Betty spoiled Ava with a new toy and a cute new outfit!  We also stopped by my old work to visit Amber.  She had never met Ava before, so that was exciting too!! :)

Flood

We've had a crazy few days having to evacuate our home because of possible flooding!!  All the snow has started to melt because it got really warm, and then we had some really heavy rain to top it off.  Yesterday I looked out our back window and there was a King 5 helicopter right above our house!  I called Rafael at work and told him to come home!  We got two  911 calls telling us to evacuate and the fire department was driving through our neighborhood on loud speaker telling everyone to leave.  It was so scary!!  We moved all of our important stuff upstairs, packed some bags and headed to a friends house not far from us.  The Puyallup river hit 29.33 feet, and 30ft is flood stage!!  I called our insurance agent to see if we could get flood insurance, and she said there is a 30 day waiting period!  Luckily, the river did not spill over into Fife, and we are back at home now.  We will definitely be getting insurance now in case it happens again.  We're going to take Ava to my Mom's house to go swimming in a couple weeks.  Maybe we can get her prepared for the next flood....haha.

Ava is so good at sitting up!!  She has almost mastered it on her own.  I pulled out my old body pillow today, and it works well as a bumper for her in case she goes backwards.  She really likes to be sitting up to play with her toys.

Sick!

We've all been sick with a cold!  I started feeling sick last Saturday, and Ava started a few days ago.  Today Rafael came home sick from work.  It has been a rough week but I've almost recovered and Ava is almost done with it.  Now we just have to take care of Daddy... :)  I made him some of his favorite soup tonight so he is on track to recovery!! :)  It's been so sad to see Ava sick!!  She is such a smiley baby normally.  There have been a few times that she will just start to cry.  I will smile at her and she smiles and cries at the same time.  It's sad to see her feeling under the weather!!!

On a lighter note, Ava has upgraded to level 3 size diapers.  In our favorite brand (pampers) she is no longer considered a "new baby"!!!!  She is growing so fast!!  She has found a new interest in the cat's, and when you say "kitty" she looks around for them.  She's pretty close to sitting up on her own, and has started scooting when she is on her tummy!!
