Sick!

Ava has been sick with a nasty cold!  Poor little girl.  She has had a few colds in the past, but nothing like this one.  She has been waking up every hour or two at night because she can't breathe!  Last night we took her to bed with us instead and she seemed to do a little better.  Rafael took her to the doctor today.  They said her ears looked good and her lungs sounded ok, so we just have to let it do it's thing.  She hasn't been feeling great for almost a week now.  It is so sad to see her so sick.  She smiles in spite of it all though, so that makes me happy!

Ouch!

Ava bonked her head on the fan tonight while trying to stand up. The first of many, I'm sure. It was so sad!

Playing with friends!

My friend Lyndsey is here visiting from Utah. Her son Max is almost 1 year old! We got together with our other friend Lindsey from high school. Her son is 2. It was a lot of fun! It has made me realize more than ever that I really need to get Ava into a playgroup so she can play with other babies!! She is always stuck playing with Mom and Dad! She had a good time. As soon as she saw Max she starting patting him on the head.... it was so funny! I brought Ava's favorite play table and it was quite a hit with Max too. They had fun. My friend Avery's boy is 2 and was having a hard time sharing his toys. He is at that age where he is learning about sharing. It was cute to watch my friend try to teach him to share. Rafael and I will be in the same position soon, I'm sure!

This is a picture I took of Ava tonight. It totally looks like my baby pictures! I was so happy to see her looking a little like Mommy because everyone always says she looks just like Daddy!

This first one is my favorite! It is actually the very first picture that Esha took of Ava with the chicks. The guy at the feed store just kinda tossed the chicks on her... she was so unsure about what was going on!!

Ava update

Ava slept for 10 hours last night without getting up to eat!! She has come pretty close to sleeping through the night lately, but last night was the longest she had ever gone! I was so proud of her!
I was sick yesterday afternoon and evening. I had a fever and was wearing two sweatshirts, a robe and a comforter wrapped around me and I was still cold. How miserable! Of all the things that make people feel sick, having the hold/cold/achy body is the absolute worst for me! I feel a little better today. I have a headache, but I can tolerate that! Rafael was so sweet last night. When he got home he watched Ava and let me go upstairs to rest. He did the dishes and fixed me so food. I was miserable! I hope Raf and Ava don't get sick!
Ava has been pulling herself to a standing position since she was about 6 months old. Over the last few days she has started to get up on her tippy toes to reach stuff. It is so cute! She can also let go with one hand now too. I think over the next month or so she might master standing without holding on to something. I think she is going to be walking by 9 or 10 months. I don't think I'm ready for that! She is so much more a little girl now than a baby! It is as heartbreaking as it is exciting!

I don't know where she learned this!! I think she might have been tired of getting her picture taken...

Talking to Grandma!

Ava all ready loves the phone... oh what we have coming to us when she turns 13!! Haha. If it isn't someone talking on it, she wants to play with it.... make it light up and make noises. When Daddy is at work and calls, she gets a huge smile and sits looking blank and listening... I know she can hear the person on the other end! After awhile she just wants to eat the phone.... it's cute while it lasts!

Happy Easter!

I am waiting on the pictures of Ava but today my neighbor and friend Esha took Ava to a feed store to have her pictures taken with baby chicks!  Esha took the pictures and I am pretty sure we got some good ones!  The chicks were GREAT sports!  They just sat there and didn't move too much.  There were a few times when they jumped up on Ava's legs.  Ava wasn't too happy about that.  She liked the chicks, but just not on her...  Ava even grabbed them a few times and they would squeak like crazy! We all stayed pretty close so we could make sure she didn't hurt the chicks.  The people at the feed store were such troopers!  They were so excited to have us there and said this was a first for them! They had never had anyone with such a request.  They even went outside and got their floppy eared bunny for a few shots.  The bunny really liked Ava!  Every time we sat her down the bunny would run right over and start climbing on her!!  I think he liked Ava a little more than he should have if you get my drift...  Ava gathered quite a crowd in the store!  The store wanted us to send photos so they could hang one in their store and submit one to the local newspaper!  I will post the pictures ASAP!

New decor!

I found a lady on craig's list that makes these cool signs!  You just tell her the colors and fonts you want and she will write whatever you like!  We have decided to take out my sister's Coca Cola decor and decorate the bathroom in that theme.  All the Coca Cola stuff I have is very special to me because my sister passed in 2001.  She was so creative!!  Rafael had the brilliant idea to put a sign above the bathroom!  I love it!!  I will post some pics when we have it all done!
