We are having so much fun with our little girl!  She's such an angel and we can't get enough of her. She makes the cutest little noises!!  My Mom came and stayed with us for the weekend and she left today.  We are officially on our own!!  It was scary for me to have Mom leave, but we're doing just fine.

Ava hasn't figured out night and day yet, and seems to be up more at night than the day.  I think I keep myself up at night more than her keeping me up.  Every little noise she makes, I have to check and see if she's ok.  Hopfully that will get a little better for me and I can become less paranoid!  We love her to death and we are the luckiest people in the world to have this new little addition to our family!

Baby Ava is here!!  She arrived 8/6/08, 9:35am, and is 6 pounds 14 ounces.  She got a 100% Apgar score!  She's so precious!!  Mommy and Daddy are tired, but doing very well!  We came home from the hospital last night.  The delivery could not have gone more perfectly!  I went into labor around midnight 8/6/08 after 1 day of contractions.

Uggg!

Hello!  We had another appointment with the doctor yesterday and still zero dilated.  I was so bummed out!  I had a very minor surgery a long time ago, and the doctor thought that maybe the scar tissue could be preventing me from dilating.  We have our next appointment on August 8th (the day before we are due).  The doctor said he would schedule an appointment for us to be induced if we had not delivered by then.

We got a storm door for our front door!  It is SO nice, and gives a lot of circulation in the house! Rafael spent all afternoon yesterday installing it.  He has so much patience!  I would have gone crazy spending that much time on something.

We went to home depot and they had a bunch of really cool cactus plants!!  Rafael said he had always wanted to make a cactus garden, so we bought a bunch of them.  I went to Joann fabrics and bought some cute pots.  We planted them last night. There was dirt all over the counter tops and on the floor... it was hilarious!  We had fun! :)

My Mom and brother came over last night for pizza.  Mom finished the quilt she made for Ava.  It's SOOO cute!  She is so talented.  She took it to work and all her co-workers told her she should make quilts for a living!  It is beautiful!

Here's a picture of the quilt, our cactus's, a few pictures my Mom took of us last night, along with one of my honey working on the door!

Hopefully we will have some GREAT news the next post!! :)

Doctor's appointment

No progress!!  What a bummer!  Zero dilated. :( The good news is the doctor said if I don't go into labor by my due date, he will induce me. :)  YAY!!  At least I know I won't be two weeks late!!

I just bought these and had to post a picture! Sooo cute!

Baby Shower!

My sister Christina and my Mom threw me a baby shower last weekend!  It was so fun!  Everyone spoiled our little girl (again).  She has a bigger wardrobe than I do, and she hasn't even been born yet!!!!!

Two weeks and two days left!  I am so excited to hold her, I can barely stand it!  We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Hopefully I will have some progress news!!  We're ready for her to come now, so it's up to her to decide when she is ready for us!

Here are some photo's from the shower, Ava's closet and my big belly!

                            Full closet!

Baby shower in a box!

Hello!  Our old co-workers from Seattle mailed a box of baby goodies to us at work last week!!  It was SO sweet of them and such a cute idea!  I emptied the box out before I remembered to take a picture so I took some pictures of the box.  They lined it with baby wrapping paper and wrote some cute notes on the flaps of the box. They really spoiled us!  We went to visit them today in Seattle!  It was so much fun to see everyone.  They are all like our family and we miss them so much!

We're going shopping tomorrow to get the last of the necessities before the baby comes!  I have a list of things I found in a magazine to pack for the hospital bag.  We have already washed the receiving blankets and a few going home outfits for our little one.  Her bag is pretty much ready to go.  Rafael and I worked 20 hours of overtime each last week to help get the last of what we need, and to pay down a credit card before she comes. :)

We are getting so anxious!!  The baby still hasn't dropped yet.  There were a few times last week when I thought she had because I had some new aches and pains, but when I look in the mirror I can see that she is still sitting pretty high.

My sister is throwing me a baby shower on Saturday! I' m so excited, and will post some photo's this weekend!

Aww :) He thinks he is human.

                                                                 Raf cut his hair!!! :)

Strep B Test

I had my Strep B test done today.  I was really excited for the appointment because I was hoping to hear something about how the baby is coming along!  We have a month left!  Bummer, my cervix is not dilated at all yet!!  The doctor did say that my cervix was thinning.... good news!  I guess our little girl is getting me ready for the big day!  She hasn't dropped yet.  I can't WAIT for that to happen.  I feel like she is so high, she is in my rib cage!  I have issues even breathing sometimes! Once she drops hopefully that will make some more room for my lungs!

Even though I was hoping to be able to report some news, I am glad she is not coming yet! We still have so much to do to get ready, and she has some more growing to do before she is ready... I guess it will all work out in the end! :)

Happy 4th!

My co-workers threw me a suprise baby shower last week! It was so sweet of them!!  They spoiled our little Ava!  They were so sneaky and had been planning it for awhile! I had no idea!  The cake said "Rafael's baby momma" on it, it was hilarious!!

Four days from now we will be 4 weeks from our due date!!Rafael cut off all his hair!!  It was so long, that his haircut was FREE because he had enough of it to donate!  Woohooo!!  He looks major hot. I liked his long hair, but I really did miss his short hair.

We didn't go out last night.  Instead we set up the bug zapper and sat on the back porch and watched everyone elses fire work shows.  It was fun, and nice to stay home.
The baby was moving around like crazy the whole time.  I don't know if it was the sound of the fireworks or what...

We are SO excited and getting more and more anxious every single day. There is still so much we need to do to get ready.  I don't think we will ever be completely ready!  We got the car seat a couple weeks ago.  The base is installed in the car and ready for the trip home with our little addition.

My friend Lyndsey came from Utah to visit last week with her little boy!  He is 2 1/2 months old now and adorable!!  It was so fun to see her, and see her as a mom!!  The weather has been hot the last few weeks. We have had the fan going 24/7!  Now I know what everyone was talking about how awful it is to be pregnant in the summer time.  I can't really say that it is awful, just hot.  Even when it's not hot, I am hot.  My feet and hands are always swollen and I can barely get my wedding ring on now!!

I hadn't gained any weight the last doctor visit.  I asked my doctor about it and he didn't seem to think it was a problem.   He said my overall weight gain so far was 30 pounds, and that is what was important.  I weighed myself last night and I seem to have lost a bit of weight.  I don't know why.  I'm  eating the same as I have all along.  I''ve read that I'm supposed to
be gaining the most at this point in my pregnancy.

I have a doctor's appointment monday for the strep B test.  The doctor is going to check and see if he can feel my tailbone too.  I spoke to one of the nurses last week and she was thinking that I might need to have a C-section because I broke my tailbone in high school.  It has been causing me a lot of pain.  Depending on how my tailbone healed, there may not be enough room for the baby to make her way through without re-breaking my tailbone.  I am hoping like crazy that I don't have to have a c-section.  When we went to our birthing class I couldn't even lean back to practice pushing the way they wanted us to because of my tailbone.  My feet hurt when I stand for too long, and my butt hurts when I sit for too long.  Ugg, 4 weeks to go!! :)  I am trying to stay as positive as possible.  I know it will be worth every second in the end!!

Sorry it has been so long!!

Hello!  It's been so long since I've updated our blog.  I have decided I don't like blogspot and am looking for another site to re-do our blog on. I think that's why I've been avoiding writing!

Only 7 weeks to go!!!  I don't have a lot of new news to report!  My belly is HUGE now!  I am having a harder time shaving my legs and putting on socks that's for sure!  The funniest thing happened last night!!  All day yesterday she would kick me and just leave her little foot (or whatever it was) sticking out.  I used a few fingers and pushed it back in because it was really uncomfortable to have this big knot sticking out.  Everytime I would push her foot back in she would come back with it even harder!!  It was hilarious and the first time I actually felt like I was playing with her.  So last night I was on the couch reclined a little bit.  All of the sudden my whole stomach got distorted in every direction.  My belly was lumpy everywhere!!!  It was like she flexed every muscle in her little body at once, and extended all of her limbs!  Then it went back to normal. It was the craziest thing I have felt from her so far.  I don't know what she was doing in there, but she was having fun!

We've decided on Ava for a name.  We're still somewhat undecided on a middle name. So far we are thinking Rosalind or Rosalin.  Rafael's Mom's name is Rosario and my Mom's name is Linda. Rosalind or Rosalin would be half of both Grandma's.

We registered at Baby's R' Us on Saturday!  It was so fun!!  We've been in there a TON of times but never up and down every isle.  We got some perfume/dye free detergent and started washing some of the baby clothes we have.  It's so fun to see the tiny outfits hanging in the closet!!

Rafael and I went to a childbirth class on June 7th.  It was an all day course.  I was so exhausted at the end of the day!!  It was a great class, but I've all ready forgotten all the breathing techniques they taught.  The thing we took away from the class was just feeling more comfortable about what to expect when I go into labor.  We had NO idea before, and now we feel a little more comfortable about what is going supposed to happen.  I'm pretty sure I'll want an epidural.  I would like to wait as long as possible before getting one, but I do think I would rather be comfortable for the second half of labor.

Rafael had his wisdom teeth pulled in May. He was so swollen for about 4 or 5 days.  He was so drugged up when we left the dentists office that het was hilarious.  We were stuck at a red light and I complained about how long it was taking. Finally the light turned green and I made my turn.  About 15 seconds later Rafael said, "Finally it turns green."  His reactions were so far delayed it was so funny.  He told me shortly after that he felt like he would be ok to drive, " HAHA YAAAA riiiight." He is completely recovered now. :)

I will definitely try to post often as we are getting closer and closer to the end!!  Love you guys!!

                         Awww :( Sore face!

                                                                                                                       7 month bump!!

Nursery!!

We have almost finished the nursery!!  Rafael painted the room last week while I was at work and we spent time putting it all together.  It isn't finished yet.  There are some pictures we have for the walls and we're going to do some flower stenciling around the frames on the wall.  It's so cute!!!  We're getting more and more anxious for her to come now that everything's ready!!

My stomach has hit a growth spurt it seems.  I feel huge!  We're now in the third trimester!!  YAY!  I can't wear my favorite pre-pregnant sweatshirt anymore as it's too snug :(  Last week we called the doctor.  I had a slight fever and for a few days after that I barely felt her move.  I was so worried.  The doctor told me to do the kick count after dinner.  I laid down on my left side and waited.  He said if I felt her 10 times in two hours than she was fine.  Well, I felt her 10 times in 20 minutes!  What a relief. I was up all night that night feeling her every minute or two.  I think she must have known the stress she put me under and was trying to make herself known!  She is kicking a lot harder now.   It's really embarrassing because it tickles so much.  Sometimes at work I will be looking at my monitor and just start laughing.  People probably wonder what is up with that girl laughing at nothing!

We went to the casino on Saturday night for my old supervisors 50th birthday party!  It was so much fun to see her.  It has been over a year we've been together.  She was like another Mom to me when I worked for her.  I miss her so much!  Rafael and I bought $40 worth of slot machine credits and lost it all in 5 minutes....grrrr.   It was a great reminder why we never go to the casino!!  I will post some 7 month photos next weekend!!

Baby clothes!

Hello everyone!  Just an update on what we've been up to this last week!  We are undecided on a name as of yet.  Rafael REALLY likes Ava.   It is growing on me a little.  I think we will probably need to have 10 names picked out so we can decide which one fits once we see her face!

Starting yesterday, I can feel the baby with my hand without pressing on my stomach.  I looked down this morning and watched my stomach move.  It was so weird!!  She must be getting bigger!!

I've slept like a baby the last two nights!  It's been great!!  I really haven't had too much trouble sleeping the whole pregnancy, but about a month ago I found out you are not supposed to sleep on your back.  Ever since then I keep waking up to make sure I'm not on my back.  My hips have started to hurt from staying on my side all night, and that has been waking me up.

My sister Christina kept all the baby clothes from her youngest daughter.  She gave everything to us!  Rafael and I went through ALL the clothes on Saturday night.  There is SO much cute stuff!  The baby's new dresser is now packed completley full of clothes!!  We put anything that was over a year (12-24 months) in a box.  I think we are going to put that stuff in the garage until we're ready for it.  We feel SO lucky to have gotten the clothes from her!!  She is so sweet!!  My favorite outfit of all is probably the most simple.  It's a little white onezee that says "grape" on the front and has a little cluster of grapes.  It has matching underwear/diaper cover that says "grape" all over it with little clusters of grapes. I don't know why I like that one so much.  I just think it is so cute!

We're buying the nursery decor this weekend and are excited start making it look cute!  It's so exciting!  We also booked a new parents class!  It is on June 7th. They are going to teach us what to do when we go into labor, the breathing, all of that.  I wonder if it will be like it is on the movies (everyone sitting in a big circle huffing and puffing) lol.

Rafael and I are going to try and go somewhere to get away before the baby comes.  We can't afford to go somewhere too crazy, but maybe Eastern Washington for a night at a resort or something. Maybe get some massages and relax before the baby comes.

Hello!!

Hi everyone!  I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile.  Everything is going great!  My belly is rapidly growing... still no stretch marks, thanks to Palmer's cocoa butter... :)  The baby is coming along wonderfully.  She is moving a lot more now.  She woke me up for the first time a few nights ago. I don't think I have ever been so pleased to get woken up!  I love it when I can feel her moving around.  Such an incredible feeling!

New car!

We bought a new car a few weeks ago!  We both had two-door cars that were not fit for a little one.  We sold Rafael's on Craig's List for $800!!  It sold in 45 minutes!!  We used that money to buy the nursery furniture, and worked out a budget of about $260 a month that we could afford for car payments.  We saw this jeep on the lot for $15.9k.  The salesman offered to sell it to us for $14.9k with 2k down and $297/mo.  Rafael wasn't having that.  He was so stubborn with the salesman.  It was perfect!  We ended up driving away in it for $0 down, no trade-in and $267/mo.  In the end we paid $12.7k for it.  It's a 2004, and only has 25k miles on it!  We got a great deal!!  It was WAY less than bluebook value, and perfect for the baby!

18 week appointment!

Hello!  We had our 18 week appt today!  The doctor said everything looked good and the heartbeat is perfect!  We had some blood tests done last week for downs syndrome and something else.  They came back negative so that was great news!  My belly is really starting to grow a lot.  I have gained 9 pounds now!  I am feeling a lot better.  Not as nauseous or tired anymore, but from what I hear....that won't last long!  My moodiness is more obvious lately.  I was really moody in the very beginning and then it went away.

I got my first pair of maternity pants.  WOW they are comfortable!  All my jeans still fit except for the waist.   I can't button them anymore, so I have to wear a long shirt if I wear them.  My feet are not swelling yet, so I can still wear cute shoes to work! :)  We have our 20 week ultrasound on March 20th!!  We are SO excited!  Hopefully we will find out what we're having so we can start decorating!  LOVE you guys, and I will post the new baby pictures on the 20th!

Valentine's

Today when I woke up Rafael was walking in the room with a vase full of red roses!  He is SO sweet!!  We decided instead of spoiling each other for Valentine's day, we would get a few things for the baby.  We got a baby bjorn, and a memory foam sleeping pad with bumpers on it so the baby won't roll over.  Here are some photo's of Rafael trying it on for size! :)

Mom's b-day party

Happy Birthday Mom!!   We had a birthday party for my Mom today.   It was really simple, hot dog's, hamburger's and cheesecake.  She had a really good time. :)   Here are a few photo's from the party.

Baby pictures!!

Hi everyone!!  Today we went to see my Mom at work and I had an ultrasound!  One of the ultrasound technicians she works with offered to do one for us for free!!  She is so sweet!  We got to see the baby, and it was SO cute!  For the first 3/4 of the ultrasound, she was sure it was a girl because she kept seeing 3 little lines.  Then there were a few shots where she thought it might actually be a boy.  Then another where she thought girl again.  So we have NO idea what the sex is yet.  We were both thinking boy for some reason, but now I think we are leaning a little more in the girl direction.  We still don't know for sure though.  The best thing is that she said the baby looked very healthy, and had all it's parts.   It was moving around like crazy.   She said it liked high 5's because it kept putting it's little hand up in the air by it's head... SO cute!

I told the doctor I was a little nervous about having a big baby because I was 9 pounds 7 ounces and Rafael was around 11 pounds.   She said the baby was big for how far a long we are!!   She said something about 50% being normal and we are 60%.... we shall see. :)  Here are some pictures of our little one!

Look at that cute little hand!!
